I finished my chemo and radiotherapy in June I had  lung cancer diagnosed T4N2M0 the chemo reduced the size of my tumour which I thought was good, I started immune therapy and was on month 3 , then last Friday I was rushed to AnE with chest pains, after blood test x- rays a scan I was referred to lung specialist who said my lung had fluid in and had collapsed, when I saw my oncologist today he told me all my treat has to be stopped and that my cancer has started to grow again so now I’m being offered end of life care as he thinks I will only have 3 months left, I’m devastated as I thought I battled through all my treatment and was told results where good,

Just can’t get my head around anything and am scared to tell my children

  • Hi   I am so sorry to hear your news. Nobody wants to be told this. I am devastated for you. Do you have anyone at home to support you at the moment ?

  • So sorry to hear your sad news, do you have anyone to talk to  before telling the children? How do you explain that the disease has won to spite treatment even Drs find that difficult. You must be  devastated in your situation I would want to scream this is not fair to the world. There are no words to help such devastating news. Look after yourself  as best you can , do you have any last wishes ? Mine is to be at home when the time comes if possible.  Hopefully your time left will be peaceful and you will be able to share every moment with your children. My heart goes out to you.

  • That is cruel after all your efforts to fight the disease. But you are far more valuable than any disease or prognosis and I sincerely hope that you can get your mind into a place where you can feel calm, loved and valuable. It might help to be frank about the situation so your children can help and support you.

I wish you all the best.
