If this isn’t the right place to post, many apologies! A close relative of mine has had advanced terminal lung cancer for nearly a year, explored chemo, radiotherapy and immunotherapy - all of which haven’t worked as desired. Trying new chemo as of yesterday, referred to as CAV/VAC chemo.
Looking to hear people’s experiences with side effects, positive and negatives! Had a rough ride with their previous chemo, so prepared for things to possible be tough again!
Hello, I am currently on CAV and have just had cycle 2 .I have extensive small cell lung cancer and had previously had eight rounds of another chemo .I found the CAV very hard the first session.I ended up in A&E for 11 hours trying to get the sickness to stop. My oncologist and Macmillan team changed the anti sickness last time and it was a great improvement on the last time.My oncologist is going to "tweak"it again this time to minimise the side effects. Please don't put up with the side effects being bad, that's what the medical professionals are for, that was my oncologists words. On the plus side, my lymph nodes in my neck had reduced within 48 hours.Hope this helps your relative and best of luck
