Hi my lung cancer is causing me so much anxiety atm, I’m having adjuvant chemo as I had a left lower lobectomy as a curative treatment but  they found cancer cells in 1/30 lymph nodes that didn’t show on the PET scan, is it normal to have all this anxiety?, I can’t seem to focus on anything apart from how long before my cancer returns?, I know in my head I’m very lucky to have caught it on a routine x ray and I’m getting monitored, does anyone else feel like this ?

  • Hi my lung cancer was found when I had a xray because I had a chest infection.i had the operation to remove part of my lung on 20th August. I am also thinking will it pop back up I think a lot of patients will feel the same and I suppose with time I will become more confident

  • Hopefully we will, good luck for the future

  • Hello Ela61,

It's perfectly normal to feel like you do at this early stage, it happens to us all, but does get better over time. I had my right lung removed and adjuvant chemotherapy because cells were found in adjacent nodes when the lung was examined after the operation. I found the anxiety eased a lot as time went by, but obviously resurfaced around periodic surveillance scans.

My diagnosis was just over 10 years ago now and apart from the occasional moment of reflection it hasn't troubled me for a number of years. I'm sure you will be the same in your own time.

    All the best,

    Derek.
