Hello everyone haven't been on in a while. I've just finished my 4 cycles of chemo and I'm fixing to start radiotherapy I go tomorrow for my mapping. Does anyone know what that is? I look up things on Google then ot gets overwhelming and I feel.worse off.. I just hope sense I stopped smoking the minute they told me I had lung cancer they've operated and done chemo so hoping g at the end of my 20 rounds of radiotherapy there is nothing left .. crossing everything ..

  •    I am so glad to see you posting again! I’ve been worried about you! Welcome back!

Radiotheraiy mapping is really nothing to worry about. A radiotheraiy machine is very much like an X-ray machine. Tomorrow is about making sure they are marking you up correctly so that the radiotherapy is hitting where it needs to be. They look at your most recent Ct to help them do this, you will lay on the bed where the radiotheraiy will take place, and they use ink on a cocktail stick to “tattoo” a very tiny dot on you to mark where they need to line you up with the machine. It is completely painless and won’t take very long. The treatment itself is completely painless. It is very much like having an X-ray, and takes minutes. Nothing to worry about at all. Of course there are side effects, but they will talk about that with you tomorrow xx

  • Hi Frazzled

Good to have you back, I was only thinking of you the other day and wondered how it was all going.

Well done for stopping smoking- that isn't easy at all. I hope that the chemo went ok and that you were not too unwell with it. chellesimo has given you some great info about the radiotherapy so I will just wish you well with the rest of your treatment.

Do let us know how you get on and if you need anything, you know where we are
