Ok well i try and not read in to the it is this or that but today got a letter from the surgeon over the lung i had removed and they have some staging on it i wonder can anyone tell me what these mean i will try and ring my macmillian nurse tomorrow as well but just wondering .
pT3 pN0 pL1 pR0 ok that was what it has i am still waiting on the jaw biopsy and removal from there then they have refered me for chemo and well just i do not like to do online searchs for illnesses because well you can gt some such fake rubbish .
thanks all
Hi steptoe. I wouldn’t know what they meant without googling it myself, so I’m just wondering if you managed to speak to your nurse today?
Hi chellesimo , no she was very busy i am going to call again tuesday as that is her quieter day she hopes , but she will try and find out then . I will post what they find out it just puzzled me because they say i am stage 2 but when i googled it said that is stage 3 and in op but they just removed my lung so i had an op and just wonder if it is a mix up on the online search or my hospital end , because they have removed the lung part and now waiting on the jaw part being removed and then i was told chemo but it is now starting ot drag and i have had to push to get them to move a little faster as one doc said the faster it is all removed less chance it can spread and then if hit with chemo we should be clear but until it is done he can not be sure , i know there are many waiting but when the doc says stuff and you have lost 4 family members to lung cancer it makes you want it done faster , we shall see thanks for the reply
have a good weekend steptoe
Hello there, I might have this wrong but I think the staging can change once you’ve had surgery as the part of the lung which is removed is sent for analysis so they can better grade the cancer. So someone might have been diagnosed as stage 2 pre surgery but post surgery it turns out that it’s stage 3.
Hopefully your nurse will be able to clarify on Tuesday.
Hi Reb A you hit the nail on the head , i spoke to the nurse today who had to speak to the team and it appears because of th size of the tumour it was classed stage 2 but once removed they said it was larger and classed as stage 3 .
I was worried because in one nhs review it said stage 3 lung cancer is very rare operated on because it means it is to far gone but i guess i got lucky on that score , now i am hoping on the 30th the jaw is just a gland issue and not cancer then on to the chemo and get through it as far as possible .
The other numbers she said will be explained more when i see the team
