I have an appointment for assessment at chemo unit on Wednesday 6th December and start chemo in Friday 8th December. I am having paclitaxel and carboplatin. I have stage3 tumour in centre of my lung which is non small cell and contained in the lung. I am really scared so if anyone has had the same chemo drugs I would be very grateful for any advice or tips.
Hi Dwed
If you tap on my avatar you will see I've had exactly the same treatment as you. You will be at the hospital for quiet a few hours for you first few treatments my first cycle took 10 hours in total to complete as I got into the plan the times got shorter. Make sure you have plenty of snacks and drink with you, a good book to read or some puzzle books, make sure you take your phone and tablet if you have them , although you will find there is always someone to chat to.
Your first treatment will be tough, you nurse specialist will talk you through it and I did lose my hair on this treatment, I didn't worry about that to much I just got myself some lovely hats to wear.
If I can be of support to you in anyway please message me I'm happy to chat about my experience
Best advice I can give you at the moment is be kind to yourself and do what makes you happy
Have a good day
Donna
