So, a few weeks ago I was told my mum has advanced lung cancer, after some tests, I found out it was breast cancer, that went into the lung, so I don't know if that's still stage 4 lung cancer, or stage 4 breast cancer, I'm confused, so if anyone knows please let me know, she has had a biopsy and in 2 weeks we will find out more and know what treatment to go with.
Has anybody else experienced advanced breast cancer that went into the lung, I'd really love to hear some positive stories because I googled it, like I know you shouldn't, and it really scared me, thanks a lot
I’m sorry to hear of your mums diagnosis. Has she had any treatment for her breast cancer ?? If she was diagnosed with this first then that may be the primary source of the cancer it then gets classed as stage 4 if it has gone to other parts of the body that is classed as the secondary.
There are lots of wonderful treatments out there so keep that thought at the forefront of your mind and try not to google ;-) which i know is difficult and that’s from experience but it can often fuel anxieties .
i wish your mum well
Thanks so much for the fast reply! So she hasn't had any treatment for the breast cancer yet, yeah we initially thought it was stage 4 lung cancer, but I believe they tested some fluid from her lungwhich they drained and found out it definitely did come from the breast? Do you know if that means it's still classed at stage 4 lung cancer? Which google says isn't curable
Two days ago they send something off to be tested and we will find out in about 2 weeks time, I'm not sure if it'll still be called advanced lung cancer, or advanced breast cancer?
Have you experienced the same situation?
Thanks so much for helping!! X
I think the results from the biopsy will determine what treatment to go with
Hi I think the definitive answer will come from the biopsy results which I know will be a difficult wait .
I have stage 3 breast cancer but know when I got diagnosed I had a full body CT i to look for spread to other places such as lungs .
maybe get a full list of questions together that your mum maybe able to ask on her next oncology apt’
Sending you all wishes
Thanks so much, I'll do that! Also...Honestly thank you so much for replying it really means a lot! I hope you're okay and that your treatment is a success! You've made me feel more relaxed tonight, so thank you x
Hi
i have no breast cancer but metastasis to my lungs. I had stage 1 breast cancer 18 years ago and the thoughts are that it stuck around sleeping for a while.
Wait for the results, all will become clear.
I hope all goes okay and your mum receives treatment soon.
Reach out to me if I can help with anything.
Bassy
Thanks so much! Yeah we shall wait for the results, hopefully within the next few weeks!
I believe its stage 4 breast cancer which went into the lungs, I hope they can treat it, but we will have to wait and see what they say!
Thanks again, I'll be praying
Hi there Jimmy1996
Once you have a definitive diagnosis they’ll decide on the best treatment
My sis in law had lung cancer and was operated on stage three. Three years later she had a small breast operation it was done in a day case in a different hospital they didn’t say if it was connected
I had bowel cancer stage 2 had a LAR one year later lung cancer with lobectomy and segment they were two primary’s
So no chemo or radiation at this time I couldn’t have a biopsy at the time they just got me in and binned it after a PET scan which showed the bowel was stable with no spread.
Ann
I'm so happy that you and your sister in law had a positive experience!! I hope you live the longest and happiest lives ever, and it's suspected my mum has started 4 which is a little different, but I'm hopeful that they can stop the spread and give her a long life!
Thank you. That’s so sweet.
I didn’t ask stages. I was in for two cancer operations as I thought then the thoracic surgeon said if it’s a spread from the Bowel then he wouldn’t operate the treatment plan would be different
It really gave me confidence. I knew it would be chemo and radiation to blast the bugger
. I really hope that your Mum has her treatment plan soon I’m keeping everything crossed for you and your mum.
Sending you a hug
Ann
