My dad only got diagnosed 2 weeks ago, however has swelling in his arm and hand. A scan showed the tumour is pressing on his main artery. After initially being told there’s no treatment and palatine care as the only option he’s now being offered 5 days of radiotherapy. Will this shrink the tumour and give him a longer time? All very sudden and just a little confused on this rollercoaster
Hello Alison70
Welcome to the Online Community. I see that you have joined the Lung Cancer forum which is a good place to connect with others who are going through similar.
I am sorry to hear that your Dad has been diagnosed with lung cancer and that the tumour has been found to be pressing on his main artery. I have found some information on radiotherapy that may help answer your question. I will pop a link below for you. There is a section about half way down for palliative radiotherapy which will hopefully explain a bit more.
