Hi guys.

Im not looking for a diagnoise just looking to see if anyone who has had lung issues like cancer had anything simlar happen to them

Has anyone else had anything like this before they was diagonsed.

I have no cough and my chest sounds clear when listening

I have been very SOB when active recently my spo2 "oxygen" levels drops down to 92-88% when active even moving from 1 room to another it drops,

When resting lying in bed ect its normal 95-100% range.

I had bloods and ecg done and both negative for Heart faliure ect.

I had chest x ray yesterday evening,

If it was lung issues such as cancer or anything else causing it would it show on chest x ray

  • Hi

I have been in hospital on a number of occasions with rather lower sp02 that you describe. I was put on high flow oxygen and on one occasion even a heparin drip and just tended to get better.

One time a consultant said to me "you are overbreathing" - ok I said tell me how to stop.

Never had cancer, though did have a heart attack many years ago - does not seem related though.

Sounds like you are on a fairly typical diagnosis pathway to me - but what you might be diagnosed with it the end - if anything is potentially worrying and that can increase stress levels that can affect our health.

    <<hugs>>

  • Lung nodules will often show on a chest x-ray but the x-ray only really guides the next diagnostic step.

Other respiratory conditions can cause you to be short of breath so it's possible they will test for those.  Despite having lung cancer, I was never short of breath.

Whether or not anything shows on the chest x-ray, it's likely they will do a lung function test.  This helps them determine whether you have an obstructive or reactive respiratory condition which would be affecting your breathing capacity.  High resolution CT scans can also be used to detect things which may affect your breathing.

  • Hi Jamie I was very similar to you, no pain no cough no heart failure.  those oxygen  levels suggest smoker./ x smoker.  Though of course that is not always the case.  I had also started getting SOB walking the dog.  Your question can it show on an xray - yes it can, mine did.  As something  80per cent sinister  Confirm with scan.  I guessed.  88/92 is normal for COPD and you can certainly live on it, and that is not an indication of cancer - but some of your other symptoms might be.  If you dont hear within 48 hrs I would be ringing them back to ask. Good Luck could be something or nothing.  Hope this is helpful.  Please feel free to contact me anytime if you need support or help Jill x

  • Hi thanks for reply.

Chest x ray clear so was bloods for H/F Normal ecg lungs sound clear had test done before for heart 24 hour ect tredmill test echo all normal but showed 15 PVCS which they said are 99% time normal i feel them it like a thud.

So I have no idea what to do now spo2 normal when resting by active it drops

I feel SOB all the time when doing nothing. I am worried but yeah like I said not sure where to go from here x

  • Hi Jamie, Im rubbish at tech so my response to you - frantic could be anywhere.  I was very similar and think I might have been able to help you,  Loving thoughts xx

  • Totally agree with all you said.

  • From what you've posted it sounds like you still haven't had lung function tests done.  Determining why you're short of breath is the first step towards treating it, so I would definitely be asking whoever is co-ordinating your care about arranging that.
