Hi we had mums lung cancer confirmed today Stage 4 primary is lung and mets on pelvic bone. Seen the lung doc today however we are back Thursday to speak to a medical oncologist. The doc did mention today that we would be discussing targeted therapy options and a clinical trial? Just wondering if anyone has been at same stage as mum and been offered these? Thanks
Hi BInijac, sorry to hear about mums diagnoses. I know the waiting is hard, but what your mums lung consultant has said could change once you see the oncologist. Lung doctors are not trained in cancer care, so they can advise, but it really is up to the oncologist. My lung doctor was all doom and gloom and told me there was nothing I could do and my prognoses was poor. I was a mess by the time I actually saw the oncologist, who completely took me under her wing, and has been looking after me now for 8 years.
At least you don’t have too long to wait now. Please let us know how she gets on. x
Hi chellesimo
Thanks for replying. I hope you’re doing ok. Yeah the waiting has been very hard it seems like ages since I first posted here. This has Mostly been due to my mum having a previous bc so they thought that had returned along with a new lung cancer but we know now it’s lung cancer. So hopefully tomorrow we will meet this oncologist and see what he has to say. Yesterday was a dark day and quite a few tears were shed. However we will get ready to go again tomorrow and hope it’s a brighter day. Thank you again.
