Hi,  I've just started on this drug today.

Anyone else who had this before or still on it?

How have you been coping with size effects, any suggestions most appreciated.

  • Hiya Karkar, I've been on Osimertinib since June 2021 I have had a few side affects spots rash sore fingers and a few more, it's just your body has got to get used to the tablet as it is a toxic. The good news is the side affects have now all eased I still suffer with very slight sore fingers but I use cetrband cream which helps but apart from that all OK. Karkar don't sit around waiting for side affects to happen lead your life to the full. When I started this treatment my tumer was 24cm after only 2 months it had reduced to 16cm and latest scan showed all is still stable. Keep in touch and good luck

  • Hi Muffin break,

Thank you so much for your reply.  It is wonderful to know that your are responding well to this drug and your tumour has shrunk since .  This is just my first step and reading what you said has giving me some reassurance.   I hope it will work for me too.  I will try to lead my life as normal and full as possible, thank you for the advices.

Are you still on this drug if you don't mind me asking?  Wishing you all the best with the rest of your journey.  Look forward to our next chat and take care.

  • Hiya yes still on Osimertinib and I will stay on it until it stops working as I have incurable SCLC. I'm 69 yrs old and I play football 2 times a week I will not give in to this horrible decease. I'm living and enjoying life to the full ?

  • Hi, first 3 months seem to be the threshold for your body to get used to it. I started on osimertinib in march 2021 and my side effects were fatigue in the early weeks. I consider myself lucky, had no side effects ever since. Stage 4 adenocarcinoma with bilateral nodules, last scan was static. Even if you have some of the side effects, try and enjoy yourself, I know I am. Good luck to all

  • Good morning and nice to hear from you again.  Wow,  you are amazing, a keen footballer .  Mine is stag 4 incurable too.  So I will see how it goes as this is only my second day of treatment with the tablets .  We need to stay strong and you are a good example.   Have a nice weekend.

  • Thank you for your positive post! Just starting my journey, 3 weeks since diagnosis, so don’t know much yet. Waiting to hear about targeted radiotherapy.

  • Thank you! Did you have other treatments at all? Is this immunotherapy?

  • Hi Alin175,  good to hear from you .  Yes, you are lucky with so little side effects and obviously the medication is working for you and that is a very pleasing news.   I shall look at the bright side and try to get back to my routine later and hope the med works for me too.  Thank you again for your input.  Have a nice weekend.

  • Prior to staring on the drug, I was breathless just from walking, coughing was like being stabbed in the chest, worst pain i ever felt. By day 5 of the medicine I was back on my feet to say so, very efficient drug. Its amazing what science can do, I am 34 yrs old non smoker and typing this message now is an scientific achievement, I owe my prolonged life to this.

Just to confirm, be positive, try and not think about this disease anymore and live happily. Who knows, maybe new breakthroughs will be available for us in the nearby future.

    All the best.

  • Hi no other treatment just straight onto Osimertinib tablet
