Any one got info on radiotherapy

  • My husband has 10 sessions on the tumour in his lung (it was 12cm, large so they blasted it). They then found a tumour in his neck lymph nodes and gave him 5 sessions for that.

He found the lung tumour treatment very straight forward... In, done, out... The only side effects he had was nausea and tiredness. He treated the nausea with infused fresh ginger in his tea, chewing fresh ginger and drinking water. He slept when he was tired.

The sessions for his neck were different as being so close to his throat, he found he got a sore throat, shoulder pain, more nausea and he felt generally unwell, as if he had a heavy cold.

Any other specific info, please ask away.

    Warmest Regards.... Becky

  • Hi Spanish boy

I just had 10 radiotherapy sessions at 30 Gy. The treatments themselves were OK and painless but side effects arrived just at the end. Didn't get any tiredness and fatigue and the blasting on the lungs has been OK although coughing more for it. However the side effects on the chest lymph nodes has been horrendous and wasn't able to eat or drink for nearly a week and steroids have been a life saver. Now 2-3 weeks afterwards it is 90 %better and hopefully continuing to get better. So hope at the end. Good luck for your treatment and we all react differently.
