I'm just wondering why I'm not having any treatment now ,surely that would be the best thing for me. Is anyone eles not having treatment yet.

  • Hi ZBREEZEX are the nodules they have found quite small? Sometimes they do put people on a wait and watch.  They would not want to put you through a gruelling treatment until really necessary, and some treatments like radiotherapy can only be given once, so if it was to grow, they would not be able to return to that area with radiotherapy.

I know it must be frustrating, as you just want to get on with the treatment. Do you have a lung nurse you can call and ask why they have decided on this way forward for you?

  • Hi. One nodule is 11mm &the other one is smaller. What you have told me is what I think my oncologist said now thinking about it. Don't have a lung nurse yet. As it is mestatic(secondary) as it has come from my appendix/bowel would i still need a lung nurse.

  • When we go to these appointments it is so difficult for us to take everything in.  All oncology departments have a Clinical Nurse Specialist who you would of met when you were first diagnosed. I’ve only seen mine a couple of times, but if I ever have any problems or concerns I always contact her, and if she cannot answer my problem she will ask my oncologist.

  • Hi . I've not had any hospital apptments;since covid, it's just been telephone apptments with my oncologist, that's how I found out the news 2 wks ago.x

  • Yes I am the same, all telephone consultations. I think if I was you, I would be asking if they were going to refer you to the respiratory clinic. xx

  • Hi. I have spoken to my specialist nurse yesterday . She has assured me that  at the moment  it's just watch&wait  ,which is the normal procdure and for me not to worry at this point, just enjoy the holidays.also they may have caught it early as she said the nodules are small, even the 11mm one. My bloods came back all good,so cancers markers fine.. Have had a good day today with the odd worry about it all but feel a bit more positive since I spoke to my nurse. Thankyou for your support too.Have a lovely xmas.

  • That is very good news. It is hard to put it out if your mind completely, but please try too, and have a lovely Christmas x

  • Good news - well done - difficult to put out of our mind but try x

  • Hi  XBREEZEX

I have a similar situation to you. I had a bowel cancer removed 2 years ago but a PET Scan follow up recently revealed 2 mestatic in my left lung and one in my right lung The largest is 5mm the other two are very tiny. I have been told to have chemo from mid January and no option to watch and wait. I am not sure why i was not given the option to watch and wait . It is so hard to make the right choices.

    Regards Mark

  • Hi Mark. Sorry your going through the same as me. Apparently it is the normal procedure but I've only recently had a c t scan about 4/5 wks ago.  I've been absolutely terrified &was absolutely gutted that I have it again. But being on this forum helps in such a gr8 way, getting the support &being able to talk to ppl who really understand. Good luck with everything. X
