Hi I was diagnosed with SCLC in April 2019. I had chemo etoposide and cisplatin. Had chest radiotherapy and ended it with PCI radiotherapy. I was given good news saying I was basically cured however needed regular scans for review. My next review is on 20th December 2021. So I've just had the routine chest scan  on Monday fo this upcoming review. My gp knew I was having this scan and put in a last minute request for urgent head scan as I've been having headaches and vertigo. I just got told tonight they have found a 3cm mass on the right side of my brain. We don't know if its mets from the previous sclc or something new. I am worried sick and hoping I can have treatment for this. My GP emailed my lung oncologist and also copied a neuro oncologist into this to update on this result. I don't know what to expect and I am really worried.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Had anyone else experienced this?

Thank you in advance xx

  • Hi Aquarius71 I am so sorry to hear your news. That must of come as a big shock for you, especially after receiving the all clear.  As with all cancers we know early diagnoses is the key, so it is good that your GP was on top of this for you.

As your GP has contacted your oncologist, they may bring your appointment forward. I am hoping this is the case for you, so you can get some answers. There are treatments for brain mets, so try and hang in there until you can speak to your oncology team.

In the meantime if you need to speak to someone please call the Macmillan support line on 0808 808 00 00. They are open 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm.
