Previously discussed some feedback on what to expect before chemo/radiotherapy began. Just had 3rd x 6 hour chemo and day 5 of radiotherapy sessions x daily for 4 weeks. Must say that you do get into a routine which takes away a lot of anxiety albeit still get a bit wobbly before sessions. My main issues have been the dreaded tummy troubles, either runs or constipation! And the fatigue has been up and down. Do lots of preparation of meals etc about lunchtime and getting good at quick throw together meals as well as ready prepared. I am also full time carer for wheelchair bound husband. We’ve got morning carer for wash and dress and evening session for getting ready for bed. I do all day time care and with careful planning have been able to handle it well. I get plenty of rest in between.
I must give a shout out to the unsung heroes- all medical and nursing staff who have been wonderful at allying anxiety and answering questions. Only heard this morning from a wonderful nurse about some of the abuse they receive! Can’t believe it! What is wrong with some people?
I have days when I’m knackered and feel really down, but in the main I’m OK with where I am and look for the positive every day. Wishing everyone on this forum hugs and best wishes. xx

  • Hi kettlechip, I am glad to hear that you have settled into your treatment routine. It must be hard having treatment and caring for your husband too, so I am glad you are getting some help, and you can get some rest.

It is only natural to have up and down days. Having chemo and radiotherapy can be gruelling. You are doing so well! Keep going, you will soon be out the other side. xx
