Hi, I'm starting keytruda in a couple of weeks and just wondered who was on it and what to expect?

Any info would be hugely appreciated xx

  • Hi Elsie, sorry you haven't had a reply yet. I am going to bump your post so it doesn't get lost. I will also put an information sheet here for you to look at about Keytruda  (pembrolizumab)

    Thank you x

  • H Elsie

Every one is so different to how they react. I had this every three weeks for i completed the two years.

I think now they give it every six weeks, but hopefully some comes in and denies

    or confirms this/

I had a  terrible rash all  over, so much i made myself bleed, but once it got under control. with antihistamines and   moisturises twice a day.

Fatigue  played a big part, and you have to listen to your body. Had slight nausea  but was given tablets for this.

After the two years treatment,  i went on to have know treatment at all, slight growth this June and had some radiotherapy., Now waiting for a scan,

I can only go by how it effected me, and would take it again rather than chemo, which i had.

    Take Care Ellie x

    Hi Ellie,

Could you tell me more specifically which antihistamines and moisturisers helped you? My dad is having the same issue. Thanks!

  • I tried loads of different  moisturises all bought from different shops.

Some here recommended  something i had never heard of called

    • UDDERLEY  SMOOTH  Original, which i did from Amazon i got the Tub 12oz best thing i have ever bought, not not greasy at all , and is adsorb straight away, i still use instead  best moisture i have ever used, i think  the price was about ten pound worth every penny,
    • Antihistamines i used supermarket own brand which helped, a bit then Claritin, not spelt quiet right.
    •  i was scratching  that much even when asleep  and had to keep changing bed, i am on blood thinners, which did not help.
  • Hi Elsie I started keytruda in September up to now I haven’t had any side effects I had 4 cycles then at the end of November I had my first ct scan since stating the treatment.last week I had a call from the oncologist to tell that the tumour on lung has shrunk from 6.4cm to 4cm and the lymph nodes are also going down iv also started putting the weight back on that I have lost. I hope  this helps you Lj56

  • Sorry Elsie I forgot to put on the other message that I have my treatment every 3 weeks and it only takes half an hour Lj56
