Coffee Enemas During Treatment

Hello, my Mum was diagnosed with Stage 4 NSCLC in December and is currently having Tagrisso Osimnitrib targeted therapy, as well as one session of radiotherapy. She has been advised by a nutritional biochemist to have coffee enemas at home, however there seems to be a lot of contradictory information regarding this.

I am wondering if anybody has any thoughts on coffee enemas during treatment, or personal experience.

Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated!

Sending lots of positive thoughts to everybody,

Christina

  • Hi C.hristina I have not heard of a coffee enema, but I think before starting anything like this it should be discussed with your mum's medical team first.

I hope your mum is doing ok

    Take care

  • Hi Christina, I'm wondering if your mum ever did coffee enemas and if so did she feel better?

  • Hi! I would say there were pros and cons. It took a lot of prep and practice for her to be able to do them smoothly,  and when she was feeling well enough it definitely helped. It helped with keeping her regular when often the treatment would make her constipated. I also think she did have some good side effects from it and she looked good. However, there were a couple of minor side effects like piles every now and again. The main downside was she really had to be feeling good with lots of energy to be able to do the enemas,  but those were the days she wanted to make the most of by seeing friends,  family and things that made her feel 'normal'. There is also so much conflicting information out there that it would sometimes make her question herself and panic. I hope that helps!

  • Thank you! I'm going to give it a try

  • Best of luck and positive thoughts for your journey!
