Hi
I had an abdominal ultrasound on Monday and received a call from my GP that evening to say that there was a large mass on my liver. She has referred me to gastroenterology under the 2 week rule and requesting an urgent CT scan.
Shocked is an under estimate. Although I don't know it definately is cancer, the copy of the ultrasound findings suggests it is due to the irregular texture and vascularity. The wording states 'Highly suspicious of malignancy'
So I am now in limbo until its confirmed, obviously thinking the worst.
I am so scared. I watched my father die of cancer and it was the most horrific thing ever to experience in my life. I do not want my daughters experiencing the same.
Life sucks
Hi Callmecalli
Welcome to the Liver group.
I am sorry to hear that your abdominal scan on Monday has shown a mass on your liver. I understand that this is a worrying time and you are feeling in limbo.
It is always hard to wait for tests and results and most people on here will understand that and will want to offer support. May I suggest giving the Support Line a call and talking things through with one of the nurses. They are there from 8am-8pm daily.
I hope that the CT scan can be done quickly and that you get answers as soon as possible. My own cancer was endometrial and I remember that I actually felt a bit better and less overwhelmed once I knew for sure and I knew what my treatment would be.
I am sorry to hear that your father passed away from cancer.
Jane
Thank ypu for taking the time to respond to my post.
I have my gastroenterology appt on Monday but I am also on the waiting list for an urgent CT scan! Spoke to the GP this morning who kindly chased it up or me and I hopefully should be receiving a call next week with a CT appt date.
Trying to keep myself busy until I know whats what but its incredibly difficult
Its always worth getting GP to chase things up- mine was helpful.
Keeping busy can help but it is natural to not be able to think of much else. I know I struggled. I tried to keep to normal routines and it helped a bit but at times it was a case of just going with the flow. I found going on short walks in the countryside helped me- fresh air and exercise- and that helped with the sleeping. it sounds like you should know what the problem is within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime we are here if you need us.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
