Hi all I am new to the group I have been readingvducussions fir a bit and decided I should join to ask if muscle spasm and sharp pain especially in bed when stretch or try to get up is normal I rang nurse specialist she said its fine ring gp and get codeine ,it started about 4 weeks ago and is a pain in the butt, also stomach has gone down a lot but is still swollen just wondered if anyone else had this experience, sorry for the long one
My son hit the nail on the head when he said its a life changing experience for you and the kidney removal is only the start of your journey ,the positive side is its a life saver and will take what comes with it as I count my blessings it was found by chance
Take care all
That is interesting.. I have bad fluid retention yet my GP and the cancer nurses say it isn't fluid retention .. but I have a lot around abdomen and legs 5 months on, and it is increasing too. Worrying really and there is no help with it. In my experience sadly there has been zero aftercare. Left to try and deal with issues alone. Again.. lack of info and down-playing.
Hi, yes I have thought about that too, I am menopausal unfortunately at 44! yet prior to my op I kept weight off no issues, with my slimming world plan, now it's going up and up!! Maybe I've got to learn to live with the fact that I am menopausal and as kidneys do help regulate hormones too (Ive read so much) then a mixture of both , so I'm probably going to be slightly larger than I'd like for the rest of my life!! but at least I'm alive! That's the main outcome here!
Hi all it is so true aftercare has been a bit naff but we are all still here
Since the op Ive had the opposite ive lost weight a stone and
dont have much appetite other than wantng sweet things im past the menopause but still have flushes which have increased but I read it is hormone related, bloody hormones have a lot to answer for
Take care all

I didn't even know I was menopausal until I had come out the other side! - almost no symptoms! Consequently, I wasn't prepared for my weight to creep up. I am almost twice what I weighed when I was a too- skinny 20- and 30-something! but I can't shift it now, despite eating very healthily.
I am fit and active so I get on with it as best I can. My size 12s and 14s went to charity long ago!!
Might be worth going back to your slimming world group to see if they can shed light on this? Perhaps there are different plans for different life stages?
