Kidney cancer

Hello to everyone on here im new to this ,I've only one kidney working and have just  been diagnosed with cancer ,and awaiting an operation for the half kidney to be cut away .and hopefully when they put the half back it will work .i will have to travel to Oxford for the operation ,im  waiting to here from them  .I'm  having a hard time to come to terms with it some days I'm ok ,others I just cry like the tap has been turned on .I'm just wondering if anyone els has gone through the same one .my husband doesn't  seem to be coping well ,i worry about him and my children .but every doctor and nurse I've  met have been so nice and kind .I've  also been to a dialysis clinic to see all options, just in case .

    Unlike you, I had cancer in one kidney, so still have the rest functioning ( touchwood)

    • I've heard of ppl in the group having a partial nephrectomy and all's gone OK,thovI can see you might want to look at dialysis as well.
    • Have you rung the helpline on 0808 808 0000? They can help you chat thru your feelings.
    • You could also ring your cancer nurse specialist to talk to them. I get the feeling you're trying to b strong for your husband n boys..
    • They may find it useful to join the Family and friends group.
    • Do let us know when you hear more.
