Hi I’ve been on the forum for a few months and my profile has my history but in summary: I had a left nephrectomy in 2020 with cancer diagnosis. After removal I was told it was stage 2. I had yearly monitoring and got the all clear after each scan. However, as is the usual I had an ultra sound for my liver following abnormal blood work and the following day had a call from the GP who told me I had kidney cancer in my right kidney. On examination of previous scans it was noticeable in each scan for the previous 3 years. So I chose to have cyroablation and it was arranged quickly, had scan 3 months later and they noticed a thickening around the ablation zone so arrange for a scan 3 month from the first scan and had an appointment this week and the cancer deep in the kidney was not killed an had grown 9mm but it’s deep in the kidney and in close proximity to the vein. So second ablation is happening next month but as always being so close to the vein has risks - bleeding out resulting in need for the vein to be blocked off or bleeding out resulting in kidney removal. I wondered if anyone has experience of life without kidneys ? And what is the quality of life with only dialysis?
I have a good idea of the practicalities of dialysis as I’ve met with all relevant professionals.
