Pre op assessment

So I had my pre-op assessment today after being incidentally diagnosed with a 3.2cm tumour on my right kidney. I was told I would have to stop taking my HRT so fingers crossed it happens soon. I have the small issue of a rectal poly that may or may not be malignant to deal with first (See profile) New endoscopy appointment scheduled for Monday. I'm really hoping it can  e removed successfully and there is no malignancy. Have to hope, that would be the best outcome then they can crack on with the partial nephrectomy.

  • Good morning Gosh,

Can I echo what Latchbrook has said and wish you all the very best for your appointments and investigations. We all know what a worrying time this is and the uncertainty can often be the worst to deal with. Take care and let us know how you get on.

Send you a big hug, Jules x

Big thank you   and  for your kind words. Another rollercoaster of a day! So unfortunately the surgeon was unable to remove the polyp again, so took another biopsy and said it would have to be removed by TEMS. I asked him if I should be worried, in other words, is it malignant and he said no I shouldn't worry. Whilst I was getting my big pants on the kidney surgeons secretary called and asked me if I could take a cancellation, in the morning! Have to say it threw me completely as I was just about to be sedated. I explained where I was and the circumstances and we agreed it was probably not wise. As it turns out I had a terrible headache and am a little sore where he attempted to remove the polyp so with hindsight was probably the best decision. His secretary rang me back last night and said it would likely be within the month. I was a bit deflated that it wasn't removed but I've dusted myself down and I'm feeling positive about it all again x

  • Sorry to read that the polyp couldn't be removed  but I'm glad that you're feeling positive again.

    All the best
