RECONSTRUCTION TIMELINE

Hello all, I was diagnosed with IBC in April and now coming to the end of 5 months of chemo and getting ready for a mastectomy 2 weeks after chemo finishes, I knew that I couldn't have recon surgery at the same time and am booked for a left full mastectomy and node biopsy as day surgery, which was in its self a bit of a shock as I have large brests, but was told by the surgeon that recon will now be in 18-24 months just t I make sure all ok, but everything I have been told previously by doctors and brest care team indicated I could have recon much earlier, I was advised at diagnosis it was the earliest caught that they had seen and nothing showing on any scan to indicate spread through nodes etc. I am devastated, this has really knocked  me, the thought of spending 2 years with a full F cup one side and nothing on the other even with prosthesis etc. It just seems more than I can handle. I know the main thing is to be cancer free but I really don't understand why the time line has changed and if I am being fobbed off just to fit in with waiting times. Can anyone tell me how long they waited for recon after a mastectomy and the timeliness for their surgeries. Many thanks
