I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma in April 2021 when I was 70. The lymphoma was in 5 places, I had 6 rounds of chemotherapy and high dosage steroids as part of the treatment. It was very tough and gruelling but I’ve came out the other side! I would love if I could touch base with others who are in a similar position to me and talk about the journey to regaining some kind of fitness.
Hi Fourgirls and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.
I don’t have Hodgkin's Lymphoma but I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare (incurable) but treatable type of Low Grade NHL eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ is different I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.
Well done getting through your treatment and looking to get on with life. As you know each journey will be different and can affect folks differently.
When I left the hospital in Oct 2015 following my second Stem Cell Transplant I was in wheelchair and had to have 4 months physiotherapy to get me back walking unaided........ so I do understand the fitness challenges well (you can see my story in the link at the bottom)
Do tell us what you can or can't do, what are you doing at the moment to try and improve your general fitness and I am sure that the group members will share what they have done to get theri fitness back
