Diagnosis and treatment plan anxiety

Hi,

Over the last few weeks I have been going through all the tests and scans and have been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma stage 4. They have started the ball rolling with a treatment plan, however it wasn’t what I was expecting.

They are starting an intense inpatient chemo cycle in the next week, although I have never really heard of having inpatient chemo, let alone 10 day stints each month. I have 100% faith in the doctors and nurses, they have been so amazing; I just don’t know what to expect from 1/3 of my time to be in a hospital bed for at least the next 6 months.

If anyone has any shared experiences or advice that would be amazing! I don’t think I have processed much of the information, however it’s a long journey ahead

Thank you so much

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.

I don’t have Hodgkin's Lymphoma but I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low Grade NHL eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ is different I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

My main chemo was very aggressive and was also done as an inpatient…… you can hit the link at the bottom to see my story.
