We had some good news on my son's PET scan yesterday which shows complete metabolic response but then in his aavd infusion yesterday he had a bit of a reaction to the Dacarbazine.
His face went blotchy on the cheeks and then he had some mild heart palpitations. Cheeks seem to have settled overnight and the palpitations are only occasional but has anyone else had this ?
Nurses gave him some antihistamines and hydrocortisone during the infusion and checked in with him today.
I find it so hard not to get anxious about everything.
Hi Worrymum and good to hear about your son’s PET scan results.
Unfortunately, reactions to drugs, regardless the type of drug can happen….. even weeks or months after being on the drug a number of times but good that his team were on it.
I have lived with significant drug allergies for many years so this triggered precautionary IV antihistamines before and during my many years of treatment.
His team will be more aware and let’s look for this not to happen again ((hugs))
