Hi everyone - 27F diagnosed with stage 2 HL, due to start treatment eBEACOPDac tomorrow

I was just wondering if anyone had a temporary CVC line in their neck (not a Hickman line). My PICC fitting failed due to the mass on my chest so they couldn’t get it into position. They have now said I need a CVC fitted on the day and then removed day of discharge.

I am really scared, I have swollen lymph nodes all over my neck and I’m worried they won’t be able to do it or something will go wrong

any advice is appreciated

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am sorry to see you joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.

I don’t have Hodgkin's Lymphoma but for some context I was officially diagnosed way back in 1999 at 44…… although I now realise I had most likely been living with with my rare (8 in a million) incurable but treatable type of Skin (Cutaneous) T-Cell Lymphoma for a number of years........ I eventually reached Stage 4a in late 2013 when a second, also rare (4 in a million) type of aggressive Peripheral T-cell lymphoma not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS) was then presenting so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ is different I most definitely appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

Over my main 2 years treatment (Late 2013 to Late 2015) I had a PICC for my 4 months chemo then had 2 Hickman Lines one for each of my 2 Allograft Stem Cell Transplants (June 2014 then Oct 2015)....... in reality I had 4 Hickmans as both had to be replaced during both SCT processes...... these were all fitted with no issues.

These processes are done day out day in....... swollen lymph nodes will not be a problem as they can easily work around these and get the line in and your treatment started...... and even if there is an issue, there are other ways they can do this ((hugs))
