Hi I’ve had 5 lots of abvd chemotherapy since September and have suffered every time with stomach pains loss of appetite and sleep but in all that time I’ve never been told about alternative treatment that might help me thanks Paul
Hi again greeny123 and sorry to hear about the challenges you have been having…..
As you may remember, I have/had 2 different types of Lymphoma and different treatments but I do recognise the stomach pains, loss of appetite and sleep challenges.
I was given PPIs (Proton Pump Inhibitors) like Omeprazole and Lansoprazole to help my stomach…..
I had to see my GP and he temporarily gave me some sleeping meds…. but also advised me not to sleep fir long periods during the day.
Not much you can do about the loss of appetite apart from eating little but often…..
Alternative treatment/therapies were not recommended as they can reduce the effectiveness of chemo.
Thanks Mike I go back to see my doctor on Thursday to decide if I want to carry on with the treatment I’ve decided to carry on I’ve got 7 more to go and I’m going to find a way to get through it and fight this thing and win thanks for your support I appreciate it Paul
List all your challenges and ensure you get some help or guidance as to how to improve things……. you can do this Paul.
Sorry to hear you're still struggling greeny123. Did you talk to your team about Lansoprazole or similar?? It REALLY helped me with some of my ABVD symptoms and would almost certainly help with that stomach pain if you're not on it already......
Great to hear you've decided to keep going. I personally found ABVD incredibly difficult - the depression which came on days 4-9 once I came off the steroids was INTENSE and made the whole thing feel completely unbearable. Wishing you the best greeny! It may not feel like it but it sounds like you're doing a great job of getting through it despite the horrendous symptoms...
Thanks for your message I’ve been taking Omeprazole for a number of years for acid reflux but unfortunately it doesn’t help with my stomach pain after my chemotherapy I’ve got some pain killers to try let’s hope they help in some way . I start up abvd again on Wednesday so I’ll know this time next week how bad Ian thanks again paul
Oh that's so frustrating - ok well fingers crossed those pain killers start to make a difference and make this whole thing more manageable for you...
