Hi everyone,
So today I got a call from my CNS , she asked for Sharon to be by my side and put on loud speaker, my heart was racing!! Anyway after seeing how anxious I was at our meeting yesterday and knowing I had another 3 weeks to wait she contacted my oncologist via email last night asking if my scan results had come in. And if so could she relay them back to me instead of waiting. Yes was the answer and sent her results over to Rachel. So back to phone call and she said I don't usually do this but I could see you were struggling , the results were 100,% total response to treatment and clear . I'm still in shock I can't get my head in gear, I know it's great news but I got home today to a letter that wants me to book a MRI with contrast for head and neck .not sure who's requested it or why .is this normal ? Not sure I should be still happy ! Anyone else had the same follow up ?

Hi Mark well done in the 100% response to treatment. Might be your trusts routine of getting a baseline scan after treatment. Ring your cns in the morning if drop her an email.

I don’t understand why they would do that. Maybe it’s an admin cock up? I would ring your CNS tomorrow for an explanation
Total response is the best you can get. Well done.

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
That's the best news!
What a shame they've confused it. Your CNS sounds lovely, I'm sure she'll be able to explain.
Hearing that treatment has been successful can feel weirdly like an anti-climax - it's hard to get our heads around after all we've been through. Do something nice to celebrate!
September 2022 aged 63 diagnosed with HPV associated SCC base of tongue T4 N2 M0. Chemo & radiotherapy for 6 weeks ending Nov 2022. Now over 2 years all clear. See my profile for longer story
It is very common not to be jumping with joy at the news. Others wonder why you're not able can't understand that we are still traumatised by the experience. In time you will celebrate, maybe not overtly, but for you it will mark an important stage of moving on.
