Hello everyone, 3 weeks ago my partner had a PET-CT and a CT scan 10 weeks post treatment for T3N0M0 laryngeal cancer and they said ‘the scans look good and they are happy with them’
He has been given an appointment with ENT for a scope this Thursday! 3 weeks after scans, is this normal? It worries me because he still has pain when he swallows (not excruciating but still there) and has a cough that sometimes still brings up mucus! Is this normal at 13 weeks post treatment?
Thank you.

Hi sunshine. Yes it is normal.
I had base of tongue cancer with 6 weeks RT. After my post treatment scans I was reviewed every six weeks for a while. I had a nasoendoscopy every time. I think that’s pretty routine.

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
Thanks Dani. I just stress about his ongoing side effects! He is well in himself, just a couple of niggles with his throat and sometimes coughing mucus up and sometimes not! Everything I read says this should subside by now (I know everyone is different)
Hopefully the scope on Thursday will out my mind at ease for a while.

That’s just not true. The mucous can go on for weeks. I can say I was still on morphine at 12 weeks and paracetamol for another month after.

Thanks Dani. My partner does take paracetamol every few days if the throat is really hurting him. He says it’s just so dry! There has been a few times in the night where he has had a coughing fit and not been able to catch his breath (I’m assuming this is mucus that is laying in his throat)
Hi ,I'm into my 13th week post treatment and still get a sore throat especially after trying to eat something. I also have a really dry throat in the night that's wakes me up ,I have a little spray bottle full of water next to bed or some artificial saliva spray which helps a bit .
My thick mucus still appears but not so often now.
Hello, thank you.
I remember you starting treatment, I think you started at the same time as my partner!
it’s good to hear you are healing well.
Oh really? Where did he have his treatment ? What's his name . Or do you mean you remember me on here ? Sorry
How is his appetite? Is he using a Rig /Peg?
I mean on here. Sorry.
He didn’t have a feeding tube as he was eating well before treatment and in all honesty he has eaten well during and after treatment and didn’t lose too much weight with the help of 2 ensures a day!
He does still have a sore throat and a cough though, which is why his appointment for his scope on Thursday is causing me such anxiety.
How is you pain and appetite now? I saw you were struggling a few weeks back.
Hi yes perfectly normal I had a scope almost every time I saw ent. Only once or twice during Covid they didn’t scope in early days but was still seen.
Mucys isn’t unusual either

Yes I made a big mistake of stopping all meds due to major constipation, worse thing I could have done !! But I'm nearly over that now thank goodness. I asked my CNS if I could have my throat checked as I thought it was too sore after 10 weeks. One of my oncologist team checked it with the nasal scope and all was good ,just still inflamed.then My oncologist checked at our meeting a couple of weeks ago .I think our throats have took a bashing and will take a while not to be so sensitive to different things ,people on here will probably agree. My throat gets sore after certain foods and after using duraphat paste.
Is you husband due his Pet CT scan ? I had mine yesterday. Get my results 3rd April.
