Had my 3 month appointment with my consultant following pet scan after having chemoradiation for tonsil cancer hpv. Back in 6 weeks as cancer site clear but found abnormal cells near original area. Not sure if due to treatment and healing or something else . Has anyone also had this experience as now in limbo am I okay or not awful for my family no clear answer
Hi. My cancer site lit up on PET too. I had a biopsy of the area which was clear. It was put down to the effects of the radiation

Thanks so wait and see now I guess fingers crossed.
Yes it’s an awful wait. I was poleaxed when I found out but my wonderful surgeon got me in for biopsy the following week. Some trusts re scan after three months. I was glad mine didn’t
It’s really fairly common. My oncologist said that in his opinion 12 weeks is far too early and he would prefer to wait six months. He now aims at 16 as a compromise.
