Looks like I am going home today.
The drainage was 32ml yesterday and 17ml today.
The drain was pulled off me. A bit scary but better than I expected.
Pain is manageable with paracetamol and codeine, just need to take them on time.
Very stiff and cautious but I am so grateful of everything and everyone.
The wound looks a mess and it's in a different crease than they said it would be but what difference does it matter now. One day at a time from here.
Just waiting to be officially discharged with paperwork and then i will wrap my neck in a scarf because I am afraid of the seat belt (I am short so it goes on my neck).
The wound has a lot of yellow and back, I will ask how I can clean it. Everything is swollen and numb but I guess that is expected. I cannot feel my ear and last night I was thinking omg if it falls off I won't know!
Love those late night anxiety and paranoia thoughts.
It’s a good feeling, waiting on being discharged! Enjoy it!
I’m 3.5 months post dissection and still can’t feel my ear fully. It has improved though. Don’t worry about it, it’ll take time for everything to settle and nerves to hopefully do their magic
Good to be going home.
Yellow and black is bruising. I’m sure the scar will settle. I’ve seen plenty that are almost invisible after a time xx
Cuddle up and watch some rubbish TV

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
They said the follow up will not be before 4 weeks.
They have taken a biopsy of a white patch on my tongue. I am a bit nervous what that could be as it's the 3rd one from the same area.
They were convinced that they got the primary tumour during the surgery in November, so I am hoping if 3 different surgeons took 3 biopsies they can't find additional tumours now. In November they removed all the dysplasia too around the tumour so it can be just because i bite my tongue. I cannot help it because I don't feel it.
Nymph nodes sent off.
Will they call me in sooner if they find cancerous cells? If I need RT will they see me sooner than 4 weeks?

Quite probably because if you need RT there is planning to do
Hopefully that’s it so fingers crossed. Hugs

Pleased you’re going home.
I had the ear thing too. A year on and it’s almost the same as the other one.
Have you tried using a soft cover for your seat belt to soften the ‘sharp’ edge? I googled ‘padding for seat belts’ and there seem to be quite a few products out there which might help you.

Hi. Great that you’re back home quickly.
Following neck dissection I had a lot of numbness around my face, neck and ear. I also had a mandible palsy. I.e, some slight paralysis meaning my smile/mouth was a bit lopsided.
Numbness improved v slowly and I was recommended to touch and massage the numb areas. 6 months on I still have a numb patch on my throat but it is still improving. I also did facial exercises and started to get some very slight movement back at around week 4. At 6 months movement is about 80%.
once healed I massaged the scar with bio-oil. The scar is not noticeable unless I point it out.
fingers crossed for your next steps.
