Morning!

I was ok first 1.5 days.. not had meds yet this morning.

My speech is as if i have a sore throat and i feel there is obstruction when i swallow, just nothing or water or soft food.

I have 1 drain. And the scar if course.

I get bored of eating 3 small spoonfuls in 30min. Is this normal?

2 nights so far after the op, still in the ward.

  • It will get better.  Remember that the basic healing process takes around 14 days.  I guess the drain will come out when there is no more fluid draining.  I had virtually none drain out at all for my first dissection so it was out the following morning and did not have a drain for the second, very extensive dissection.

I would imagine the issue with swallow is due to swelling from the wound site.  That should diminish over the next few days.  I had tonsillectomies with both dissections so really did not notice the pain from my neck (tonsils are agony)  and eating was a challenge in those first few days.

Hopefully your scar will not be too noticeable.  You really need to look hard to find mine.

Keep up the meds and hopefully they will find you are safe to be discharged soon.

  • Thank you. A consultant has just been to do the rounds and she could only say "persevere".

She said I will stay at least another day.
