all things being equal I should be finished treatment in 5 weeks which takes me  to the end of march. I was thinking of booking a holiday to recover early April Lanzarote. What does the community think. I’m having 55gy over four weeks no Chemotherapy.  I’m assuming a CT scan will happen at some point

  • Hi Paul I know you’re having less RT than me but by the end of week four I had a mouth and throat full of ulcers. The radiation has a residual effect for a couple of weeks so it’s still working. I would honestly give yourself at least six weeks if not more.

  • Thanks I have Zero patience. I’ll wait until I’ve finished being irradiated

  • Personnaly I would not book anything until the treatment is finished as you do not know how you are going to feel. We were meant to go to France just after my treatment but could not until quite a few months after as I had mouth ulcers and had to take all my nutrients through my peg for 3 months after the end of my radiotherapy. I think it is great to plan a hols as it brings you sunshine and something to look forward to but give yourself some time to make sure you are well enough to travel.

Amazing holidays to look forward to.

  • Hope  I’m ok by September 12 have a cruse booked

  • Hi I flew to Spain week 8 with oncologist s blessing. We were going to our own apartment so I could easily sort out food issues. FroM

my experience an hotel would have been tricky   You need travel insurance and you will need to declare the cancer they may cover you to travel with cancer being excluded. Keep away from Easter period and you should pick up a late bargain. Or if you book in advance be prepared for maybe a few eating issues or consider self catering I used to eat  or drink a few high cal ensures then if we went out hubby would have a meal snd I sat there with a drink usually plain water. I took ensured ith me but bought a powder in Spain to supplement fot intake of food called meritene

  • Thanks Hazel insurance isn’t a problem made very little difference to premium.    I’ll probably leave it until September hopefully should be ok by then  compared to people on here I’m getting a reasonable low dose over 20 days so hopefully side effects shouldn’t be too bad.  Hopefully !!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi Paul. Wait and see how you feel nearer time you’ll know how your body is feeling.

Am sure you’ll be ok for Septembers cruise.
