Hi,

Could anyone advise me on a good protein drink/powder, that's easily available, to boost weight ?

Thanks,

Turi

  • Hi Turi. It’s calories you need not protein. Meritene and Complan over the counter are good and your Fortisips or Ensures willl do the job and are free. Alternatively try making a smoothie with avocado, banana,  milk and peanut butter. Chuck in ice cream or fruit plus some honey to sweeten it. ( But not cheap supermarket honey which is Chinese syrup)

  • Hi. Scandishakes made with whole milk are about 580 calories each. I had them on prescription via GP.

  • Similar ingredients to Dani, ice cream, smooth peanut butter etc, but I used Carnation Breakfast Essentials powder, which I bought online, as a basic ingredient. It must’ve tasted lovely but sadly I couldn’t taste anything.

  • Complan made with Gold Top Jersey milk is my go to

  • Thanks Blod. Will try making smoothies first but will contact GP about Scandishakes if that fails.I loathe having to involve GP as I have to wait 3 weeks for an appointment and the answer is usually NO !

The Scandishakes have alot of cals .

    Thanks,

    Turi

  • Thanks Peter

Will give smoothies a go with the milk and Complan and some of Dani's suggestions too

Take care with proper honey. Proper honey has enzymes that give it a “bite” so it may irritate till you have healed.

  • Hi. Could you have a GP phone call? Or ask receptionist to pass a message? I’ve learned to not take No for an answer & to be very proactive.
