I am still on a soft and puréed diet and I still have 3 fortisips a day but hoping to cut back on that. I would love to have my peg removed xx
Hi Durhamlady
I'm not far from you if you are actually from Durham lol
I had my peg removed 3 weeks ago as the dietician in Gsteshead was happy I was maintaining my wait with Fortisips, Scandishakes with added hot chocolate so hopefully they'll get you sorted soon
Dee xx
So are yo just drinking the fortisips and what are you managing to eatxx
Agree with Dee. If you are maintaining your weight between dietician appointments. It can be removed.
Lilian , How are you in yourself? Have you sorted your swallowing g problem?

Hi Dani, I’m afraid although my swallowing is getting a little bit better I can still not eat proper solid foods yet. I can manage scrambled egg, banana, sponge puddings with plenty of custard and the last few days I have discovered I can eat jelly babies lol. Not nutritious I know but I really enjoyed them. I still struggle with mash because of the dryness but I am doing better than I was I just feel a bit tied to the house because I don’t think I can eat enough to keep me going all day so I still need my fortisips.
I hope everything is going well for you still xx
So whereabouts in Durham are you from, I live in Ferryhill I don’t know if you know it x Lillian
I'm actually in Gateshead, about 15 min drive from Durham centre. The Scandishakes are on prescription too, just need to mix with milk, I got the unflavoured ones so I could put whatever flavour I wanted into them. When it comes to mash potato I drown it in gravy lol
Do you get the prescription from your doctors x
The dietician had both fortisips and scandishakes added to my repeat prescription at the docs. The scandishakes are 650 calories when added to milk, I had some double cream and hot chocolate to it which took it to about 1300 calories lol
