Oh Dear! Bad News Alert

Hello Again Everyone.

My GP has been exploring some chest pains I have been experiencing since July and I have had 2 chest x-rays, an ECG and I went for a CT Scan last Thursday. My GP called me yesterday to make an appointment for this morning. To cut to the chase, the scan results show the possibility of cancer in the pleurum, pericardium or somewhere in the chest wall. They have referred me to Ninewells Oncology for an urgent review appointment.

Looks like I may have to enrol in another Macmillan Online Community Group.

Onwards & Upwards.

Take Care
Bob

  • Oh Bob that’s rubbish. Hope you’re seen soon and they can sort out some immunotherapy. You know there are trials all over the place. I know contacts doing well on them. Make sure you tie your oncologist down. You’ll be referred back to head and neck probably Hugs and all the good luck in the world.

    Thanks Dani,

I was thinking that I would be referred to a different Oncology team. I am still under the ENT team and due back in early December for my first 6-monthly review.

You’ll likely go to lung team for an EBUS first to see if it’s cancer in the first place then if it is whether it’s the same as you had in your throat.  If it is you’ll be back to head and neck. If it is a primary then you stick with lung group.
There’s always hope it’s something else … hugs

  • Bob I am so sorry to hear that.  Everything crossed they can do something positive to help you.

  • My GP called late this evening to say he had discussed me with Oncology and they agreed that it would be best if I was seen by the chest clinic (Pulmonary) first as they may need a biopsy to see if it has metastasized from the original cancer.

  • Good luck. Let us know when you have an appointment xx
