Hi everyone,

Hope you are all OK and coping with the daily trials that this disease sends us!!

Just wanted to update on my husbands progress, he is now just over 2 weeks after a 6 weeks, 30 x radiotherapy for tonsil and tongue HPV cancer (had neck dissection & robotic surgery in March).

He is doing well! Baby steps every day, some days good and some days not so good, but early days and we always remember the wonderful advice on here that it's a marathon not a sprint.

Reliant on PEG for feeds & meds but able to sip water (with added pain!!) Doing swallowing and neck exercises daily.

Sadly I was back up the hospital with my dad yesterday, same department, same consultant, and my dad has been diagnosed with cancer on the roof of his mouth - so we have another battle to fight now. 2023 is not being very kind to our family!!!

I want to wish you all well and thank you for your continuing support. I read all your comments and threads, they give so much advice and support

Thank you

  • Hi Paula Great news re hubby and yes it’s very early days but baby steps is what got us all through it.
So so sorry about your dad it never rains but it pours, the only consolation may be you know the consultant and the routine. Your dads treatment may be different but at least you’re aware of the pitfalls. As always stick with us in here everyone always happy to help.

  • Hi Paula, goodGrinning to read that your husband is doing well, overall. I'm early in recovery myself, Week 4, and can identify with what he's experiencing. So sorry to read about your father's diagnosis, the only good thing is that you can share your knowledge and experience with him. Take care, Tina xx
