Hi I’m Helen 56, and about to have a 5.5 cm lump out of my neck, following partial nephrectomy last year. Can anyone help me understand what to expect, particularly with iodine radiation treatment? Thanks so much H

Hi Helen
My sister in law had thyroid cancer in her 30's. She had her thyroid removed and had iodine radiation treatment. Can't remember all the details but there were some precautions she had to follow during the treatment. She is now 65 and powering along. She has to take regular medication to make up for loss of her thyroid but has not found this a set back.
Best wishes to you for the treatment.

Hi Helen
This is the worst time the waiting. Put your faith in your medical team as they will see you right. All you can do at the moment is try and distract yourself although I know that is not always easy. Project yourself forward a few months and you will be well on the way to recovery.
Sending you hugs
Lyn
