Bumps in the road....

Morning folks,

Consultant not been happy with my neck ('dema and swelling) since my surgery and ordered up MRI, Bloods and Biopsy. Former seemed ok but biopsy reveals several cystic growths which explains the pain / twinging I guess. So now awaiting PET scan as some suspicion of cancer cells in neck... either way it needs sorting as neck is hard work and affects eating, sleeping and speech. If cancerous (cellular) what are the likely treatments?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Gene. Sorry to hear you’re still having problems. Let’s hope there is nothing sinister there.
If they find cancer you might be offered a more radical neck dissection or one of a number of trials involving immunotherapy and another drug but really your team are best placed to give you that advice. There is always the option of a second opinion which is easily arranged. Don’t be hesitant to take it if you are not sure what to do.
There are a couple I know of at The Royal Marsden and there are a few forum members on them

    BUT don’t cross your bridges.
    Fingers crossed.
