Hi folks just a wee update to my last thread about eating or speaking  I spoke on here at the start of June about the options I had concerning  food and water going into my lungs and the option I was given were  be fitted with a peg in my stomach  or have a larengectomy and lose my voice but will be able to eat properly again without  coughing and spluttering and having to regurgitate  every mouthful I opted for the larengectomy which was done on 9/6/2023, as of yet I have not been able to eat or drink due to an infection in my throat/neck but Dr is confident it will happen soon, as for my voice.... I really don't miss it all I do now is point to the guiness tap instead of asking for it.I have no regrets in the choice I made and hopefully  this is my very last surgery around my neck area as my head will soon flop to the side                       Loch

  • Hi Loch

I am so glad to hear that things are going well for you. That was a tough decision you had to make but it sounds as though it is working out well and will be even better when the infection is sorted out. Go the guiness tap, it must be great being able to drink it without worrying about it going down the wrong way.
