Post treatment nausea

Hi

T4aN2bM0

I've messaged about my husband before. He's now 16+ weeks after radiotherapy for piriformis sinus cancer. He's still not eating food and refers to his protein drinks as 'sludge'. He's suffering very badly with nausea so as well as a stomach protector,  he also takes Ondesetron 3x per day. Lying down seems to ease any discomfort. This nausea could be coming from the Oxycontin 50mgs twice a day that he's on. But it's really stopping him from wanting to try pureed food. Luckily his weight is stable.  He's not due to see his radiotherapy specialist again until July 30th.

He is walking and doing some weights for exercise but he sleeps twice a day for 2-3 hours at a time. His last consultation with the endocrinologist Nutritionist noted he was severely malnourished.

Any suggestions or advice gratefully received.

Thank you x

  • Hi again.
Opuates made me feel quite sick too. Is there any way he can reduce his OxyContin?
I had no appetite for months but I knew I had to eat so I just forced myself. At this stage food is simply fuel?
Sleeping is ok. Don’t know about the weights though. Might that be too much?
Can you get a call through to his dieticians for advice?

  • Thank you. Apologies for not replying sooner. Thankfully in this aspect he's much improved xx

  • I also suffer sickness and nausea and I take ondancetron  3 times a day but I also take cyclizine  3 times a day, so maybe speak to your doctor about more or different anti sickness Heart eyes
