Hi everyone,
Hope you are all OK and getting through treatment/recovery OK.
Just wanted to pop by and vent!!! I am feeling so frustrated with all the waiting we are going through.
It's been 12 weeks since hubby's op for HPV16 tonsil, tongue and lymph nodes cancer.
We are due to go to the hospital for mask measuring on Thursday, but only found out that information after spending 2 days last week phoning every number I have and emailing every contact.
I know the hospitals are overwhelmed but I am worrying about when my husbands treatment will start.
He has got things happening again in his throat, which we informed them about, but nothing seems to be moving along quick enough.
I know I am waffling and there is nothing anyone else can do, but I'm just feeling stressed that he is suffering and nothing is happening.
Thank you for listening.

Hi Paula. Try not to stress they wouldn’t start radiotherapy until your hubby had healed from the op anyway. I didn’t have an op but was still 63 days from being put on pathway. Prior to that I was away for 10 weeks whrn I noticed the lump in my neck. It’s a tried snd trusted regime the treatment is harsh but it’s effective. If mask fitting next week planning will be done snd he soon will be starting. Hugs Hazel.

Hi Paula. The wait is infuriating but at least you have a date for the mask. The planning will take a little time. Much is done by AI these days but there is still input from the oncologist and radiologist. It’s complicated stuff and it has to be right. After that it’s a wait for machine availability. I had to wait nearly two months after my mask was made to get into treatment but four plus years clear now.
Do you have the number for your husbands CNS? You should be able to get up to date info from them. Mine was wonderful and we stay in touch to this day.
Best of luck.

Thank you so much to both of you for your reassurance. I honestly think the waiting is so so hard!!
We had a CNS at the hospital where his operation was done, who was wonderful, then we was moved to a local hospital for his treatment and they don't have a CNS there at the moment, so another areas hospital is covering both hospitals, hence the problem getting hold of someone.
Xx
PS. Hazel talks about her 63 days. I had to wait 124 days from being referred to being treated, neither of us had ops but Hazel had noticed her cancer some weeks before she could get to her GP. It all works out about the same. There is a capacity issue which is now worse after covid and industrial action but they won’t be doing nothing and they won’t have forgotten him.

Thank you, yes I have the oncologist secretary's number but haven't had a reply from my voicemails.
I have so much appreciation for the NHS and used go work for them myself many years ago, but you still worry so much when it's your love one and you just want them well again.
Hopefully we will know more on Thursday.
Thank you for your reassurance xx
