Hi

I'm getting a PEG fitted next Wednesday, I dont know when I'm starting my radiotherapy & chemo, but it will be soon, just want to know if I can still play golf or swim with a PEG in?

  • Hi. You will need to keep it dry for the first few days then it’s ok to shower, do activities. Not sure about swimming - I’m sure someone will know. You’ll be given tape to fix it to your body so it doesn’t catch on anything. There’s a daily routine of flushing, cleaning, turning - your nurse will show you what to do.

  • Hmmmm The tube goes through three abdominal muscles that must get a fair bit of use in a golf swing.

  • Yes. Cooled, boiled water. Flush before & after feeding, meds…Use it for hydration too. I linked up to a small pump for overnight feeding from week 4 of treatment. .
