Has anyone suffered with hearing loss and tinnitus from cistplatin chemo and radiotherapy to the extent they need hearing aids or grommets and if so did the hearing aids help ?
Hi. I have lost high end hearing in one ear on the treatment side due to cochlea damage. Yes hearing aids help but at £4K a pop I manage with one good ear. What I find difficult is localising high pitch sounds.
Grommets will help if you have fluid in the middle ear. Hearing aids can lessen the impact of tinnitus which is often permanent. How long ago did you finish treatment?
An appointment with a proper audiologist rather than a hearing aid salesman is the way to go.

Yes I have tried a few. The top of the range really are worth having and you can get them a bit cheaper at specsavers.
My tinnitus is bearable and on balance I decided not to have them.
Waiting lists? Yes I agree but you can pay to get a proper assessment and recommendations at least.

Hi had chemo a radio for 6 weeks then 3 months of adjuvent chemo cistplatin and 5FU finished 1 year ago had PET scan May 2022 all clear.
waiting for hearing aids through nhs and ? Grommet operation there is a chance i could end up with ccontinuous drainage from ear !! I just feel as if im under water all the time and having difficulty with hearing and tinnitus
