So met with the consultant today and whilst happy that the surgical aspects have dealt with the original tumour, he confirmed both sides of neck have cancer present. back same time next week for oncologist ahead of RT and Chemo. I think I had let myself believe that the surgery would be enough but was always only 50/50 so will be searching for all the RT tips and tricks. Still very swollen around neck so not sure how that will impact mask production either. Interesting times!
Sorry to hear that GeneS I am due to have a pre op assessment this week for a lump on neck . I have had 30 RT and 4 chemo. This was for base of tongue cancer and it had spread to lymph nodes on both sides. This was in january last year when I finished treatment , all was fine until a few weeks ago. Just take it one day at a time is my advice and you will be fine. Did you have a skin graph ?
Hi Gene . Take it one day at a time I was 61 when I had 35 radiotherapy sessions and 2 of a planned 3 chemo. Keep busy as there’s a process to go through that can’t be rushed the planning wizards will do their magic we all react differently. My blog below tells my story. Stick with us in here we will all help.
Looks at it like a belts and braces job head and neck cancers do respond well to treatment, it’s it easy but it’s doable.
As for the mask there time for your neck ti go down they will moukd the mask to your face and neck them when fastening you to the table they can adjust as necessary.i coukd t have surgery as one if my ky oh nides was too close to spine ,here I am 4 years later.

I wrote a blog about my cancer. just click on the link below
Thanks GeneS its like we are in opposite stages with getting fixed. Can you tell me a bit more information please or anything that might help. Is there anything I can do ?. Regarding RT and Chemo depending on where but get eating if you are underweight as I have lost probably 3 stone and everyone comments on how well I look which is funny as been diagnosed with heart failure also after a year or more of chest pains and being told there is nothing wrong with me. Talk to your nurse and read the books they give you and get top advice here from people who have been there and done it . You will get through this and come out the other side better
