Hi.
I am on the two week pathway having had a painful throat for 2 months now. My appointment is in 11 days and I'm just not coping with the anxiety and pain. I can't sleep I can't stop fearing the worst and I'm petrified of any investigations let alone any treatment. I had a very traumatic experience 20 + years ago when a nasal tube was inserted and the thought of having anything like that again without being knocked out is terrifying. What do people do to cope with their anxiety?

My mum was good at that. I have a double bedspread made in fine crochet cotton. It took her a year. I can’t crochet to save my life!

I crocheted a blanket for a double bed during lockdown. I had it finished in just a few months. That was a therapeutic thing to do at the time to keep my mind off of covid.
My throat is agony today and I'm really struggling with the pain, so just about to start another round of crochet to try and distract myself.
Hi you can buy over the counter difflam which could help. Good old fashioned lukewarm water on 1 litre. One teaspoon salt and teaspoon of baking powder. Plus try soluble aspirin in Luke warm water as a gargle to try to ease throat. If it helps I didn’t have any issues with my throat when I was diagnosed no soreness no issues swallowing or drinking. But when I had tonsillitis in 2003 it turned into quinsies and that was horrendous. If you get to stage where you can’t swallow I woukd ring or get someone to ring 111 and check with them.

Thanks Hazel. I have difflam, but that is doing nothing unfortunately.
I used to get tonsillitis all the time as a youngster. This pain is very different. I can swallow fine. Just had my dinner and finished it off with a big bowl of ice cream. I'll try and get some soluble aspirin tomorrow.
I take paracetamol but again that doesn't seem to help at all.
Thanks for your support
