Having been diagnosed with stage 1 oesophageal cancer earlier this year, I have completed 30 sessions of RT and 2 sessions of CT. I saw my consultant last week and she was very pleased with my progress. However I am still unable to swallow - not even water - and am totally reliant on PEG feeding. I am now waiting for a video fluoroscopy at the start of November. Naturally I am finding this rather depressing and would appreciate some help and advice from others who have experienced the same problem.
Hi watwilly
It can be very despressing not being able to swallow and having to rely on Peg feeding. Hopefully the video fluoroscopy will highlight where and what the problem is so they can do something about it. Very often people go through a procedure to have the oesophagus dilated.
Fingers crossed that you can get this sorted.
