I have given three replies to posters saying their peg causes them pain. I advised saying they should use instead the Monarch one like I did when I had pain. Some said their hospital doesnt have it. I have written to Monarch who gave this reply.
Thank you for getting in touch with us at Enteral UK and enquiring about the Monarch tube. The Monarch tube is used widely and in London these are some of the Trusts that regularly use this tube, Barts Health NHS Trust, University College London Hospital, Guys and St Tomas’ Hospital NHS Trust, Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals NHS Trust to name a few.
I hope this helps to answer your questions. If you have any other questions please contact me.

If anyone contacts us asking whether their local hospital uses the Monarch tube, we are happy to discuss this with them.
I only look after part of the country and that includes London.. If you would like a list of hospitals that place the Monarch tubes across the UK I can liaise with my colleagues to get you this.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Hi Seeker1, I had a Monarch Peg fitted in July 2020 at Bedford hospital. I had no issues whatsoever with it, just a bit of discomfort in the early days which I would describe like being punched in the ribs but I put this down to the actual process of it being fitted. My PEG was removed at the end of November and only took a couple of minutes at the most. The actual “hole” closed up within about 48 hours.
Regards
Carol
Good for you! I keep telling everyone here that this is the best peg. I have had mine now for a few years having changed it once, They dont last forever and never ever any pain from it. With this one you dont have to do anything to 'maintain' it unlike others using water. I just dont understand anyone using anything else.
