My husband had a pet scan two days ago and his dr called and said everything looked good. He had neck dessection as he had a recurrence, but everything was clear. We’re so happy. How often did others get pet scans, his has been three months so far.

    Hi Chris

Only one in 20 months since treatment ended...PET/CT....called into oncology every 3 months for examination and review.

  • Hi Chris. I’m over 6.5 years post treatment no scans since my pet ct scan 18 weeks after treatment. It’s nit routine in the U.K. various reason but the amount of radiation we receive more scans would onky add to that. I was scoped every consults appointment which is usual. My team always said I would know if anything was wrong  and contact the that still applies even 2 year since my last visit, just contact my cns and they will see me if needed no need to go via GP which is reassuring..

  • Good evening Chris, i never had any scans after my operations/treatment but it varies from hospital to hospital. I only had CT, and MRI scans when they were planning an operation. Im so pleased for you both that it came back clear, all the best for your husband's recovery, take care.

  • Check with your CNS. I think that in the absence of recurrence we get a PET around 12/20 weeks and that’s it.
